Peter Mariuzza, Director of Photography

Peter is an accomplished and award-winning director of photography whose extensive knowledge and artistic talent have earned him a solid reputation and loyal client base. He works closely with his clients to ensure he achieves the visual effect they desire for every project.

Peter’s vast experience includes short films, documentaries, television specials, television series, commercials, promotionals and educational programs. His work in commercials includes spots for such major corporations as Bank of America, Pitney Bowes, Verizon and Toshiba. He has shot promotionals for CBS, TLC, Court TV and the United States Army. Other corporate clients include Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Hilton, IBM, Scholastic, AT&T, Poland Springs, and Oppenheimer Funds.

In television, Peter’s diverse body of work includes the series Repo Men: Stealing for a Living (TLC), Dish It Up (WLIW/PBS) and Mom’s Cooking (Lifetime); the pilots Odd Jobs (Response Entertainment), Indie Film News (DEG Productions) and Blitzen (DEG Productions); and the documentary Lessons from Little Rock (TV One).

Peter teamed up with writer/director Phil Allocco to create a twelve-part mini-documentary series that appeared during the History Channel’s America: The Story of Us. Peter also collaborated with Allocco on the short film Joseph Henry, which garnered numerous accolades at film festivals, including one for “Best Cinematography” at the Staten Island Film Festival. Joseph Henry was named “Best in Category” at the Daman Film Festival and “Best Super Short” at the Anchorage International Film Festival.  The film received the “Audience Choice Award” at the Hollyshorts Film Festival and the “Special Jury Award” at the USA Film Festival.  Peter also collaborated with Allocco on the short film The Mirror, which was embraced by film festivals nationwide, and the short film Don’t Make a Scene.

Peter went on to receive acclaim for his work on the short film Leave You In Me. David Frankel, director of Marley & Me, called the film, “Dark and beautiful, gorgeously shot, mesmerizing, sexy, beautifully acted.”  Film reviewer Bobby Rivers commented, “Shot in gorgeous black and white, it was really good, like a Fellini movie.”  Mark Romanek, director of One Hour Photo, said, “The film is superb, well shot and acted.” 

Most recently, Peter shot his first feature film, The Truth About Lies (Fran Kranz, Odette Annable), which is in post-production.

In documentary films, Peter’s work includes the award-winning program Over The Edge, which focuses on violence in schools, and Far A Field, which chronicles the political turmoil surrounding the preparations for a music festival in the small vacation town of Riverhead, New York.
